Character Profile 2
These characters are always fun to read and write about. A bit of a mix between Type 1 and Type 3 (coming soon!), they have a taste for adventure and are barely ever afraid to face danger right in the eye. Readers can’t help falling in love with them. A sense of humor usually is prominent in these people and sometimes they tend to clash with Type 1 characters. This type of character is a good planner, organizer, and if I don’t say so myself, most of the time they do a good job. Cons to this type of character are that they are sometimes too brave for their own good, they can sometimes get annoying or sulky and at least a few harebrained plans against the villain are involved.

Camicazi
When you look up daredevil in the dictionary, there should be a picture of Camicazi. Seriously. The word danger is half out of your mouth and she’d be going: “Ooh! Ooh! Pick me! Pick me!” She is a short little blonde-haired Bog-Burglar from the How To Train Your Dragon books. She has a great sense of humor, is extremely cocky and her hobbies are pick pocketing, sneaking around, doing acrobatics and going on adventures with Hiccup.

Wyldstyle comes from The Lego Movie and one of the more serious members of this group, even though she’s only a Lego minifigure. She’s quite the daredevil and fighting evil is an everyday occurrence for her, but she’s all business when she needs to be. As told by Vitruvius, she was quite insecure and kept changing her name, Wyldstyle being the last name change she makes.

Erin Arbitor
Erin is one of the main characters in the Swipe series that I just recently started reading. Though her alliance is a little unsure, she’s really good at heart. Erin is very intelligent, a very good planner and getting into trouble is a regular occurrence for her. Her main talent is hacking, and she’s extremely good at it.

Antonia “Pitch” Benson
Pitch is part of Griffin’s team from Gordon Korman’s Swindle series and is usually assigned the job of spying, due to her climbing talent. Many times in the book, the other characters have referred to her as having been “born with a carabineer for a diaper pin”. She and Griffin are a lot alike, both being very strong willed and part of this character group, so they clash a lot in the books. Pitch has a very sarcastic sense of humor and puts it to use quite a lot, mostly in reference to Griffin’s plans.

Meg Falconer
Remember Aiden from the last character profile? This is his sister I was talking about. Meg is a lot more adventurous than Aiden, to the extent that it sometimes puts them both in danger. She is not afraid at all to take any risk to attain the story goal (On the Run: Getting their parents back. Kidnapped: Escaping from her captors). Aiden is, admittedly, a very good planner in his own right, but Meg’s way is generally more useful. Meg comes up with amazing plans on the spot and they almost always work, though they are dangerous.

Here are my book characters:
Jean McStone
Jean is a character in my book, Odd Team Out, as well as my second complete book character, followed closely by Cobalt and Gilligan (the ones next to her). She is a spy, and one of the more practical members of this character group. Her plans are long and thought out, her temper barely ever flares, though she does enjoy taking the risks that her job commands and Cobalt becomes the subject of her temper when he stands in the way. She is teetering on the edge of being a type one, but she’s a lot more adventurous and emotional than that, so I categorized her here.

Robin is my cowgirl character from my book, Amazing Honesty, and while Jean is on the lower half of the scale for this type of character, Robin is very near the top. She is very feisty, very adventurous and I think her bad temper tops everyone here. Though underneath the surface, Robin really kind and sweet to her friends, family and horse.

Griffin Bing

Griffin is the main character from Gordon Korman’s Swindle series. He is, by reputation, personality and pretty much everything else, “The Man With The Plan”. Anything and everything requires a plan in Griffin’s mind and most of the time, they work out pretty well. I’m not saying perfectly. Not even close. But despite the bumps, his plans are brilliant. And adventurous. And totally daredevil-ish. Like I said before, he clashes with Pitch and the others in his group sometimes, but for the most part, they get along. Griffin is a really great character in a really great series and I highly recommend it to anyone reading this.

Flynn Rider is the Prince/Thief/Handsome Guy from Tangled that takes Rapunzel to see the lanterns on her birthday. He starts out as somewhat the bad guy (not holding candle to Mother Gothel, but still, he’s a thief) and then later he learns to care about Rapunzel so much to the point where he would die for her. He’s hilarious, a decent (kind of haphazard) planner, definitely a daredevil and has a lot of swagger.

Calamity Jack
Calamity Jack is the deuteragonist in Shannon Hale’s Rapunzel’s Revenge and the main character in Calamity Jack (he kinda has to be). He and Flynn have a lot in common. Both come from poor backgrounds, both grow to be thieves, meet great girls, change their ways and become amazing, hilarious heroes. Jack is a great guy, his plans are great, he’s smart and pretty cocky, though he does get a little nervous around Rapunzel in the second book since he’s starting to like her. Highly recommend the books.

Oh. My. Goodness. This is Bucky. This is so Bucky. (Though Steve is a type one, and they get along just fine–mostly because, though he’s kind of brash, in some ways Bucky has more sense than Steve…)
Totally! That’s the thing… type 2s and 1s either really clash, or get along beautifully. I think Bucky having more sense would be as far as self protection. Steve does kinda crazy stuff to save others, not really thinking what his own consequences might be.

Bucky, in some cases, thinks farther ahead, while Steve can be more impulsive. I think they rubbed off on each other, actually. The flip side of that is that Bucky would die to save Steve (in fact, that's what… *bursts into uncontrollable tears* Sorry…), while Steve is almost shatteringly aware of his own limitations. He knows he could fail again (in the Avengers), but he still goes on fighting. He lost everything and he's terrified of losing everyone again, but he still goes on and makes new connections. Even in the First Avenger, with a somewhat-eclectic mix of daring and startlingly accurate estimation, he knows exactly what his limits are and uses that to outwit Schmidt. I think that that's Steve's real superpower–he's very good at reading people and then can use that to place them, tactically.
Ohmygoodness, just realized another Type 1–Horatio Hornblower. He's been picked on in the past, he's unusually bright (especially when it comes to mathematics), he's very logical and plans ahead, and he has the same sort of semi-sarcastic humor… only his is more disliking of himself… Has some major self-hate issues going on, has Horatio.
Oh boy… I am doomed for life… *sigh*
Don’t believe I’m familiar with Horation Hornblower…
There’s the books by C.S. Forester, but personally, I prefer the A&E TV movie adaptions that were made in the late 90’s… Ioan Gruffudd was *brilliant* in the title role. He’s one of my favorite actors. I have a feeling I’ll be forever loyal to the older Fantastic Four, mainly because it’s got Gruffudd and Gruffudd is amazing. (Also, you might want to be cautious… um… the same actor plays Cap and that incarnation of the Human Torch… In the MCU, I think we mostly just pass it off as a bizarre freak resemblance. Though, did you hear there was a gentleman who used to find people who were completely unrelated but look eerily alike and take photos of them posed like family pictures? That… oh dear… Anyway, it leads to a lot of jokes, such as people throwing references to the Fantastic Four as a joke, or having the Four and the Avengers meet and Tony gasps dramatically “They’re twins!” *facepalm*)
I watched some Hornblower A&E last night. My dad had seen it before and loved it, so we got it from the library. Sooo good! Horatio is like Fergus Leatherhead in a different world! That was sad when his friend fought the duel for him… and died. 😦

In The Peleg Chronicles, the author doesn’t go into it much, but there is a job of “ranger” and it’s mentioned that Fergus is one.

My novels “Loyalties” and “Generations” follow a group of people who have a sort of a similar role to the Rangers in Ranger’s Apprentice and Lord of the Rings… While they owe allegiance to the king and queen, they technically are not under their jurisdiction as a group. As individuals, they have a sort of limited diplomatic immunity…
Oh, I see. Well, the implied role of a Ranger in a peleg chronicles is pretty much that they are good in the natural world and are believers in the God of Noah. (That’s what they call Him in those books, since it’s right after Babel.)
Hm… in my novel, the Rangers are sort of enforcers, the best trackers and among the best fighters in the kingdom, without a doubt even better horsemen than the knights… 😛 They gather intelligence and monitor threats to national security. Oh, and they’re members of an ancient order sworn to protect the Veil that keeps magic from entering the human world and tend to deal with supernatural/magical intrusions into their world as well. Basically, phenomenal warriors trained for a contingency in which magic re-enters the world (magic has a particularly violent and nasty tendency to drive people exposed to it insane, mutate otherwise peaceful animals into monsters, etc.)
oh. Don’t think I’ll be able to read that then. Our family doesn’t really do magic-y stuff. Cool concept, though! 🙂

Siri Tachi (type two) was (type one) Obi-Wan’s childhood crush from the Jedi Apprentice books. She starts off pretty uptight, but she’s more reckless than Obi-Wan in some ways. She’s certainly a bit of a daredevil and pushes the limits quite a bit, and she has a sense of humor–she’s funny and awesome and plays pranks and has a lot more energy, at least on the surface… 😉 She was killed off, in-universe, but the world of Star Wars fans is largely in denial. I want to see more stories featuring her as the protagonist, where we don’t see Obi-Wan as much, maybe, because she’s awesome and deserves her own spin-off series… 😉
I’m working on stories like that, so I’ll have to convert you to becoming a Siri believer. ;-P BECAUSE SIRI IS AWESOME.

Qui-Gon… is either a Type One or a Type Five, but I’m going to go with Type One. Normally Type One has a Type Five mentor, or Type Five has a Type One mentor. Alternately you could have a Type Two with a Type Five mentor (think Luke and Obi-Wan, basically.)
Oh, yeah. And another really fun pairing is the Type 1s and 4s. Archie and Horatio. 😉 Also in the Peleg Chronicles there’s a Type 4 Lord McDougal and his Type 1 shield bearer, Fergus. XD Oh, I love those guys.
McDougal’s always like “Hey, it’s no big deal! We’re friends!”
And Fergus takes that on as another of his duties and says “Yes, sir.”
Fergus is like Horatio in another world.
Oh, yes. X-P Watching different groups of characters interact is such fun! X-P

Whoops! I forgot one trait! Type Fives tend to shy away from physical contact, even if it’s comforting to them. *runs a finger down the list* Yeah, this is true of pretty much all of them, except for Merlin.
Bush has a bit of a snarky side, he’s brave and courageous, and while he’ll never be quite the brilliant strategist Horatio is, he is pretty good at tactics. X-D
Well, yeah. 🙂 *looks at type 2 again* yep. That’s bush. 😉

Hey, can I get someone categorized? I can’t seem to place her.
She’s somewhat abrasive, has very high standards for giving respect, but once you’ve got it it’s yours for life. Expects a lot from people she trusts, and nothing from anybody else. Demands a lot from herself, too. She doesn’t ever forget it if you hurt her, but she doesn’t hold grudges either – I mean, forgives but doesn’t forget. Little to no sense of humor, and rarely stops doing something just because it’s dangerous. Doesn’t tend to plan more than a day or two ahead. Driven, focused, if she gets involved in something it’s hard to make her concentrate on anything else. Not pretty and very aware of it. I think she might be a little insecure, because she’s always trying to prove she’s as good as people older, stronger, and more experienced, without actually believing she is.
Hmm… sounds like in between a Type 2 and 1. Not as reserved as a 1, but more serious than a 2. Maybe Erin’s Type 5?
Oh, yes, that explains it! Why she gets on with this one but not that one – can you imagine two Type Fives in the same room???

Casceny. She’s the hypothetical time traveler from Jonathan (the main character)’s thought experiment who suddenly turned up on his doorstep without warning. She’s funny, brave, a little foolhardy, a bit of a little spitfire. And definitely cool, because she’s a time traveler. 😛
Actually, there’s probably an alternate universe somewhere where she’s a Time Lord who ran away from the Academy and travels with the Doctor. Knowing her, she just glomped onto him at some point and refused to go home. X-P
Also, I would love to see an alternate universe where the Doctor was a human companion who ended up stepping in when the Time Lord he/she(?) was traveling with died. Wow, this comment got off-track fast… 😛
