Favorite Screen Characters Tag

Back in October, Erin tagged me for this. And I’ve been agonizing over it ever since. I finally got them all listed down and written up this weekend, despite the fact that watching all the Back to the Future movies made it very much harder to leave all those characters off.

As it is, I ditched the whole “putting in order of favoritism” thing because I just… really couldn’t. These are in no order whatsoever.

Silver lining, at least this isn’t the “all fictional characters tag”. I would just about have a breakdown over that.

Well, see if we have any favorites in common.

Bolt

Disney-Bolt-bolt-disney-11003814-298-298

This is just such a sweet and creative dog movie to begin with. And Bolt is a great character to star. His counterpointed affection and loyalty with his tough get-stuff-done outside and threatening attitude to Mittens at first. Then top it off with a hilarious confidence in his nonexistent powers and a heroic quest with two mismatched companions for a great movie. 😉

And the ending always makes me go give my dogs a big hug…

Well, a dog had to make it on the list somewhere. 😛

Vanellope Von Schweetz

73175458

Admittedly one of the better-constructed girl characters I’ve come across. The glitch is a fun quirk and through she can be quite rude, her relationship to Ralph is really fun to watch.

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III

HiccupHorrendousHaddockIII

The stuff that happens to Hiccup… wow. Even I don’t slam that much on my characters. But, hey, Hiccup takes it all, and with a good dose of humor, too.

Lucy

(While You Were Sleeping

For one, her story is extremely well written and funny, and two, her character is just so fun and loveable. She’s good at just loving everyone for who they are, which is really sweet to watch. Plus, she’s an ISFJ. I get her thought process. 😉 (Jack’s actually an ISFJ too, so I really get the thought process of the whole movie. 😛 )

Horatio Hornblower

horatio-hornblower-1999-1-1

Fergus Leatherhead is not a screen character, and that leaves Horatio as the sole ISTJ representative. Horatio is such a great guy, amazing problem solver and dutiful member of the royal navy it’s almost impossible not to like him. He applies logic and morality to every situation and isn’t shown as the fearless action hero in so many things. His doubts and nervousness on certain occasions really make him an amazing, three-dimensional character.

Archie Kennedy

horatio&archie

Still in the Horatio Hornblower world, and there’s another awesome character that I couldn’t leave off (Bush and Captain Pellew probably would have edged on here if I had more room).

Archie is such a sweet character. And has probably one of the most infections smiles I’ve seen. 🙂 His optimism, though momentarily dampered at one point in his story, is great to see through all the horrible circumstances he goes through and he’s able to keep a good sense of humor. Yay for optimists!

Steve Rodgers

Uncontested, Captain America is my favorite superhero. And, honestly, it has nothing to do with his being a superhero at all. He’s moral and selfless though even the hardest of times. He puts his own needs last and fights for the good in the world tirelessly. I could go on for a very long time here, but I’ll leave it at that for description. I’m just very happy he’s out there as at least one good role model in the popular culture.

Benji Dunn

tumblr_ns8fqamCeU1tmzjeso1_500

Partly because I just like Simon Pegg. But, really. Benji is awesome. I never thought one character could so effortlessly put so much great humor into action movies. It’s mostly situational, too. Not the suave, sarcastic, action-hero type humor, either. Mostly it’s his horror at a situation or his nervously pointing out something ridiculous. I think my favorite standalone quote is his mutter to himself while hacking the security for Ethan.

“Join the IMF. See the world!”

(beat)

“On a monitor.”

(beat)

“In a closet.”

He’s also undyingly loyal, really smart and enthusiastic. So, yeah. I like ‘im. 🙂

Matt Meese

Matt Meese, co-creator of Studio C, gives a tour of the Studio C set and surrounding studios in the BYU broadcast building. The fifth season of Studio C starts Oct. 6. (Maddi Dayton)

Youtube counts, guys, okay?

Really, all the Studio C folks are awesome, but I think Matt gets me the most. The classic “only sane man” humor and jokes about being small especially. 😛 He’s really got the humorous reactions and facial expressions down, too. I don’t know, he’s just fun. 🙂

Inigo Montoya/ Westley

It’s a tie, folks. One of the great quandaries of my life. I couldn’t bear to leave either of these guys off, so I guess they’ll have to duel for it.

Hate-to-Kill-You

Well, that was fun. In a torturous sort of way.

Anyway, I’ll pass it on to the three people I think haven’t done it yet:

Gabrielle at Write for the King

Alyssa at writinganyone

and

Grace at grace notes + anecdotes

I’m so sorry, guys. Try not to freak out.

Well, comment please, as always!

Bye!

(I’ll just use my Benji gif again really quick here…)

Of course, we all already know who won that duel. 😛
I stole Bush’s clothes. (He and I are about the same size…) Because Eight stole mine. And now everyone in the mind palace is running around in other people’s clothes and I am poking people with Bush’s hat, BECAUSE. 😛
Also, apparently Eight has a cold, because Time Lords do get sick after all ? I guess?

        1. Oh, and I’m watching Ant Man. So, if I’d made that list a couple days later, he probably would have been on it.
*pulls some noodles out of your hair* Doctor, just sit down with the soup.

          1. XD We have a name for sock fights in our family. You have to say “buddysock” every time you smack someone. *smacks the Doctor with stripey socks* Buddysock!

          2. *gets back up and throws some more* *gets pummeled again* Abandon ship! *knots together a sock raft and jumps overboard, knocking Oldroyd in on my way*

          3. *stares blankly over the side* HOW IS THAT EVEN FLOATING… oh wait. The ocean is made of socks. *grabs Bush* C’mon, this is the PERFECT way to learn how to swim! *jumps in*

          4. *splashes socks everywhere* *gets backhanded in the face by Bush* Okay, that was just rude. Don’t panic, Lieutenant. It’s just socks. You won’t drown. They’re even clean!

          5. (That was the best mental image ever. Bush slapping you as you good off in a sea of socks. XDDD )
Here, Bush. Just swim over here to the raft. It’s a short swim. 🙂

          6. ((X-D))
*grabs Bush around the chest and tries to help* *ends up hugging uselessly* Okay, that was ill-conceived… Relax, we’ll start with just floating. Let your feet drift, it’s easy!

          7. Especially in socks. Why don’t they always train naval officers
to swim this way? *waves up to the deck* Horatio and Archie! If you guys could give us a hand, I’m sure Mr. Bush would appreciate it. 🙂

          8. Umm… Rosey… I think my hand is superglued to someone’s face… HELP MEEEEEEE
ARCHIE, YOU AND YOUR PRANKS! I’M GOING TO GET YOU JUST AS SOON AS I GET UNGLUED FROM MR. BUSH!!!

          9. *Archie laughs and jumps over the side to help*
Where’d you even get superglue in the Napolionic wars, Archie? That doesn’t even make sense. But then again, neither does a sea full of socks.
Bush: *muffled from behind your hand* Can we worry about what makes sense later?

          10. Bush: I beg to differ. This is not funny.
Archie: Oh, lighten up. We’ll teach you to swim as soon as you can see again.
Me: *throws socks at random* Yay! 😀

          11. Ugh. I hate superglue hands. I get plenty of that with the etsy shop with squink. 😛
Watch out that you don’t get any socks stuck to your… Too late.

          12. *climbs aboard the raft* *lies back* oooh, this is nice *grabs Bush’s ankle and helps to pull him on board*
            *drops something*
I’m just going to leave this here…

            (#sassiestpersononthisbeach X-P)

          1. I love the Founding Father’s Fraternity, Shakespearean therapy, and anything with “Kyle”. How about you?
By the way, I did completely forget about this tag. I will make sure to do it next week!

          2. I love those ones too, but Evil Memory Lapse and Google Translate always get me the most. XD All of them are great!
Cool! I’ll look forward to seeing it! 🙂

          3. Ha! Those were great, too! The Practical Philosopher was hilarious, too! *Matt’s philosopher voice* “If at this point, you are still confused, then let’s be clear. You are your own enemy and not even your cognition can be trusted.” *Mournful voice* “My cognition, guys!”

          4. Yes! That one was great! XD What was funny was, turns out Matt actually was a philosophy major. 😛
Flirting academy was great, too. “No, I’ve got a tissue, I can keep going.” XD

  2. Aahhh!! I LOVE Bolt too!!!! 😀 He’s SO adorable!! And those EARS!!!!!! :O 🙂 He reminds me a LOT of one of our dogs!! 😛 The cutest thing ever! 🙂 Our dog that reminds me of Bolt is named “Scout”! 😛 He shows A LOT of character that you wouldn’t even think is POSSIBLE! :O

Any thoughts?
