I have three tags to do, and I’m going to do them all right here to save time and posts. I did not know this many blog awards existed.
At least we have a theme, and it seems to be the number 10. Anyway.
Not exactly sure what that stands for, but it looks fun. So, the rules:
- Make a list of 10 things that make you happy
- Tag your post with the #GSlist
- use the #GSlist picture on your post.
- Nominate 5 or more blogs if you want.
And, here’s my list:
- Cold days
I guess I just like wearing big coats or something.
- Good stories
Big generalization here for the sake of leaving room on my list for other things. I have a lot of good stories I like.
- Informative conversations
You know, the ones where you find out things you never knew before. Those are fun.
- Joking with my family
Let’s just say I have a brilliantly funny family. Dad gives me stomachaches from laughing regularly.
- Taking pictures outside
Just going out and looking at everything so beautiful, then translating it into my lens as best I can is always fun. Finding the best filter for the light, the angle and the focus . . . everything. 🙂
- Rocky beaches and the pacific northwest landscape in general
Trees, ocean, trees, rocks, rivers, trees, lakes, snow . . . did I mention trees?
- Petting dogs
Petting a dog when you’re sad is like getting a jumpstart from a battery of happiness.
Singing along with any music is fun, even when it’s out of my range. There’s always some unexplored, deep toned area of my chest I can use. Granted, it’s not very loud, but still . . .
- Writing in a rush of inspiration
Ah, when the writing isn’t hard . . . it’s the best when I can just go off the rush of some great new idea and get a ton of writing done in like 0.1 seconds.
- The Bible and learning new things in it
Growing up reading the bible, sometimes it’s hard to find something new and exciting to freak out about. But . . . there are ways. The Books of Jasher and Jubilees along with AlephBeta.org are super awesome for that. 🙂 So many little details to fill in the cracks in the Biblical text.
And, the next tag:
From Kathy. Thanks, Kathy! 🙂
1.) Thank the blogger who nominated you, linking back to their sight.
2.) Put the award logo on your blog.
3.) Answer the ten questions sent you.
4.) Make up ten new questions for your nominees to answer.
5.) Nominate ten other bloggers.
1.) Do you enjoy horseback riding?
Yep. I can jump on horseback too.
2.) Do you prefer Charlotte Bronte or Jane Austen?
Never read any Bronte, and honestly, it doesn’t appeal to me lot. So, Austen.
3.) Are you right-handed or left-handed?
Right handed. But I’m working on being ambidextrous and doing pretty well so far. Except on typing. I’m a one handed typer and can barely do anything with my left as far as that’s concerned.
4.) What is your favorite sport?
Classic sports-wise: Baseball. Other than that, I like archery or bicycling.
5.) What is the most unusual thing you have ever done?
Gone to Israel, maybe? Not a lot of people have done that.
6.) Do you prefer the mountains or the seaside?
Both. Because Washington state. 😛 Seriously, I can’t choose. Don’t make me.
7.) How tall are you?
8.) Do you prefer cats or dogs?
Dooooooogs. Anytime. I like animals that like me back, thank you. I have been snuggled by too many dogs to count, and scratched by 3 cats. All were unprovoked. Yeah, dogs, thanks.
9.) Can you sing?
Decently. I can sing along with pretty much any song we own, and I’m going to be in a choir this fall.
10.) Do you prefer classic Sherlock Holmes or the contemporary Sherlock?
I have not looked into either, so . . . I couldn’t really say which I’d like better. I’ll just say Inspector Alan Grant instead. Does he count?
Last tag! Here we go…
The Freestyle Writing Challenge
From writinganyone. Thank you! 🙂 It was fun and awesome!
1 Open a blank document.
2 Set a stop watch or mobile phone timer to 5 or 10 minutes.
3 Your topic is at the foot of this post. DO NOT SCROLL DOWN TO SEE IT UNTIL YOU ARE READY WITH YOUR TIMER!
4 Once you start writing, do not stop until the alarm sounds!
5 Do not cheat by going back and correcting spelling and grammar using spell check. (The challenge is only meant for you to reflect on your own control of sensible thought-flow and for you to reflect on your ability to write with correct spelling and grammar.)
6 You may or may not pay attention to punctuation or capitals.
7 At the end of your post, write down “No. of words = ____” to give an idea of how much you can write within the timeframe.
8 Copy and paste the entire passage on your blog post with a new topic for your nominees, and copy / paste these rules along with your nomination (at least 5 bloggers).
So, this was in 10 minutes (see, the number 10 again!) and I got 257 words. Give me some grace, I had like 3 little siblings pestering for attention, and I didn’t know exactly what I was going to do.
This was my topic:
Your favorite and least favorite characters (from different books, and as many characters as you would like) have to have a meal together, what happens? (to make it fun, do try to involve poison or the sort!)
(*hangs head* sorry, I didn’t have time for the poison.)
And, my writing bit. With these two characters: Cobalt Winter and Fergus Leatherhead
A polite knock comes at the door and I open it to show a man in a cloak standing there, very dignified. He bows,
“Thank you for inviting me, Lady Rosemary.”
“You’re welcome, Fergus,” I smile and step aside, gesturing him in. “Cobalt should be here soon.”
“’Cobalt’?” Fergus looks confused as he pushes back his hood.
“Soon, like now.” Cobalt appears at the door and salutes me, “Hey, guys.”
“Hey, Cobalt, c’mon in.”
Fergus and Cobalt take their seats, eyeing each other strangely, while I get the sandwiches for lunch.
“Well, it’s very nice to have you both here,” I set the sandwiches down on the table and sit down in my chair.
“Yes.” Fergus’s face is full of questions, but he bites his lip and politely doesn’t ask what I know he wants to.
“Umm… who is this?” Cobalt points over at Fergus.
“My favorite character from the peleg chronicles,” I tell him, passing the lunch plate down, “Sandwich?”
Fergus’s cheeks turn red, “Please m’lady,” he clears his throat and sits, thinking of what to say. The title of Favorite Character obviously makes him uncomfortable.
“You are, really. It’s fine.”
He shifts in his seat and glances over at me, franticly thinking of some way to change the subject. I do it for him.
“Fergus, this is my character, Cobalt from my books.”
He relaxes a little, “Pleased to meet you, sir.”
Cobalt raises his eyebrows and his mouth twitches in a smile,
“Sir?” he looks over at me, “Hey, hear that? I’m a ‘sir’.”
I wish that could gave gone on, but, thankfully for Fergus, the timer beeped then.
So, my topic is…
You are going out for coffee with one of your villains, and a favorite fictional character. How does it go?
And, I tag,
You may take your pick of which tags you would like to do. Have fun, guys!
